Join us for our weekly service of Morning Prayer when we commemorate the Reverend John Mason Neale, Priest and Hymnographer who died in 1866. According to the book, Holy Women, Holy Men, Rev. Neale was a priest of many talents, As a hymnodist, he authored several original hymns and more than thirty translations of Latin and Greek hymns. Many of his hymns are included in the current 1982 Hymnal used by the Episcopal Church today.
As priest, he gave active support to the Oxford Movement in its revival of medieval liturgical forms. A humanitarian, he founded the sisterhood of St. Margaret for the relief of suffering women and girls.
