Break the Silence Sunday – First Sunday of Advent

On Sunday November 30, 2025, Saint Luke and Saint Paul, Columbia will participate in a joint worship service based on the
Break the Silence campaign created by the Episcopal Church Women and the Episcopal Church.
n 2022, the 80th General Convention of The Episcopal Church adopted a resolution designating the Sunday closest to November 25, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, as “Break the Silence Sunday” across The Episcopal Church. This year, Break the Silence Sunday is November 30. This day provides us an opportunity to lift our voices in solidarity with survivors, to confront the sin of gender-based violence, and to renew our commitment to creating communities of safety, justice, and peace.
The Reverend Martha Harris, Rector of Saint Luke and Saint Paul parishes, will preach and preside during the service of Holy Eucharist. John Landis will play the organ.
Scripture:
Isaiah 2: 1-5
Psalm 122
Romans 13: 11-14
Matthew 24: 36-44
A potluck luncheon will follow the service. A fun Advent craft is planned after lunch. All are welcome.
