Morning Prayer: Hildegard of Bingen, Mystic and Scholar

September 17 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 am
ancient saint mystic and scholar

Join us on Wednesday September 17, 2025 at 10 am as we commemorate Saint Hildegard of Bingen, a German mystic and scholar who lived from 1098 – 17 September 1179.  Hildegard was a German Benedictine abbess and polymath active as a writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, visionary, and as a medical writer and practitioner during the High Middle Ages. She is one of the best-known composers of sacred monophony, as well as the most recorded in modern history.  She has been considered by a number of scholars to be the founder of scientific natural history in Germany.

Morning Prayer will be led by Br. David Rutledge, OFC.  A reflection on Hildegard will be led by the Reverend Martha Harris, Pastor of Saint Luke.

Scripture readings can be accessed here:  https://www.episcopalchurch.org/lectionary/hildegard-of-bingen/
